As a team of avid animal lovers, Agent99 has recently started working with Sydney Wildlife on a pro-bono Instagram campaign to raise awareness and encourage engagement within their growing social media community.
To create a presence, all brands must have a strategic plan tailored to their specific objectives and target audience. To help get any company started though, below are a few tips that are universally relevant when it comes to building an engaging Instagram account:
- Create an editorial calendar
Having a plan of when to publish certain content helps a brand page run more systematically and strategically, as opposed to just posting sporadically. Creating themes or pillars that are relevant to certain days, for example Throwback Thursday or Fun Friday, also means that if numerous people are generating content for the page, everyone is clear about what the focuses are.
- Quality over quantity
Many brands oversaturate their follower’s feeds with irrelevant posts, dramatically increasing their risk of being unfollowed. Instead of posting too often, as a general rule of thumb one per day is ample. Ensure that the image is of high quality, and the caption includes at least one key message to help achieve the brand objectives.
- Keep the wording short but sweet
When it comes to incorporating key messages into the caption, knowing to keep it short and snappy is key. Rather than try to squeeze an entire paragraph into one post, instead spread the copy out so they serve as strong standalone lines.
- Don’t stop at images
Instagram is constantly adding more tools to make it easier for visually appealing content to be uploaded. Mixing things up and also publishing videos, especially Instagram Stories, should be included in the brand strategy as it is an easy way to engage with followers and is often viewed by more people than a standard written post would.
Good luck and happy Instagramming,
