My name is Jonas, and I am from Denmark. I just started an internship with Agent99 for the next three months. Last semester I went to Deakin University in Melbourne on exchange, which was the best.

So far, I have three main takeaways about partaking in an internship program:

Work hard, play hard

An internship is perfect for those who want to improve the skills they have learned during their studies. I had no choice as I was required to complete an internship for my studies. I still think it is a great opportunity though and after studying a semester on exchange in Melbourne I was keen to continue my overseas life. Believe it or not, it is as hard to find an internship (and the right one for YOU) as it is for men to understand women. Okay, maybe not that hard, but you get my point…

PR or not

I don’t study Public Relations but since it interests me, I chose to go all in and I don’t think I will ever regret it. I study Entrepreneurship and Design which also focuses on Marketing and Communications.  I also run my own jewellery company in Denmark. So, I am not saying that I don’t know anything about PR, I just haven’t worked with it in such a way that Agent99 does, which I really admire. If you have been through the application process for a job you can probably tell that it’s a difficult period for you, as well as the company. As you probably can tell as well, Agent99 took a shot on me. So here I am, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

I did it my way

The application process isn’t easy. First, you must get the company’s attention by providing a good-looking resume and write a perfect cover letter. Afterwards, you must nail the interview, which I did on Skype. I wouldn’t say I nailed it, but I mean, we talked on Skype. It wasn’t easy to sit in front of my computer, being confident and smiling while answering all the questions. But I have always been a fighter so I did my best and now I am going to live in the lovely city of Sydney for three months. So, I guess it is true what they say: “hard work pays off.” And if you add just a little bit of belief, I bet you can do almost anything in life.

I am the type of guy that always wants to improve and do my best no matter where I am and what I am doing. That’s why I think my personality fits perfectly inside of Agent99’s walls. I hope this internship can give me a good understanding of how an agency works with their clients and how a PR plan is born and fulfilled. Furthermore, I hope to learn about how it is to work with and understand different clients, media, target groups and how to create a good social media campaign. One of the most important thing for me about doing an internship abroad is to push my boundaries and improve my English as it isn’t my first language – a blog post is a good start. How do you think I am doing?
