Name: Emma Hourigan
Role: Intern

Hi, my name is Emma and I’m the new intern at Agent99 PR!

I consider myself to be an ambitious and outgoing University student. I am an avid book reader, I’m either walking around with a book in my hand or my kindle ready for me to whip it out and smash out some chapters. I am obsessed with watching movie commentary videos on Youtube and I love Greek food.

1.What did I want to be growing up?

Like most kids, I did not have a single career in mind for myself.

The few that have stuck with me are:

  • Actor
  • Marine biologist
  • Famous pop singer (When I was 6, I took the song Cinderella from Cheetah Girls, performed it for my parents and proceeded to tell them that I was the lyrical genius that wrote it.)
  • Hairdresser
  • Tattoo Artist

All so very different, but yet I thought I was capable of doing each and every one of them.

2. How did you end up at Agent99 PR?

Coming into my last semester at Uni, I was beyond ready to finally get out there and experience the PR industry firsthand. So, I began my search online and one of the first PR agencies that popped up was Agent99 PR. Intrigued by the name, I clicked on the website, gave it a read and found that the agency’s goals and specialty areas were perfectly aligned with what I was hoping to learn. I then quickly sent off my resume and now here I am! It is very different from my humble beginnings as a retail worker.

3. Describe yourself in five words:

Funny, dorky, creative, easy-going, ambitious

4. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

In my last year at High School, the only thing I knew for certain, was that I wanted my career to be in the creative industry – where things are always changing. For me, the most rewarding part of PR is that you get to be creative in so many ways. After learning about the industry through University and now from my internship, I have found that you get the best experience from working in the actual environment and that has been highly rewarding for me as I finish up my degree.
